About the Role
Our client is the UK practice of an international consultancy with heritage, a strong global brand in its field, and a profitable UK business built on deep foundations in Defence and the public sector. The next phase is growth: diversifying the portfolio, sharpening the commercial engine, and scaling without compromising quality. They need a Managing Director to lead it.
This is a hands-on build role with full UK P&L accountability, reporting directly to the CEO with a seat at the global leadership table. The MD personally wins significant new business, sponsors strategic accounts, owns the commercial equation end to end, and leads the diversification into adjacent sectors. An Operations Director holds the internal machinery, freeing the MD to focus outward on clients and growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who This Suits
- A proven business builder who has personally won and grown consulting or professional services revenue. Evidence matters: pipelines built from scratch, ambiguous client needs shaped into sold work, a business or practice grown through new sectors and accounts. Inheritance is not enough.
- You have genuine transformation depth at enterprise scale, not generalist consulting leadership. You are instantly credible with C-suite buyers and comfortable keynoting conferences, because the MD is the public face of the business.
- You are fluent on how AI is reshaping operating models.
- And you are comfortable at boutique scale, without big-firm brand pull-through or a sales function behind you.
