This role offers the opportunity to take full executive responsibility for the leadership, performance, and strategic development of an ambitious property and construction business. Working closely with the Executive Chairman and Board, you will enjoy complete autonomy to build upon strong foundations, lead an experienced senior team, and execute long-term growth plans while benefiting from direct board investment and support.

What You'll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities) as a Managing Director

  • Leading the overall performance of the company, taking full accountability for operational delivery and financial P&L
  • Delivering sustainable revenue and profit growth through disciplined commercial leadership
  • Developing and executing the multi-year business plan agreed with the Board
  • Building, mentoring, and developing a high-performing senior executive leadership team
  • Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Strengthening operational systems, governance, and reporting to support scalable growth
  • Identifying new commercial opportunities across public and private sectors
  • Building and maintaining trusted relationships with clients, local authorities, partners, and key stakeholders

What our client is looking for (Skills & Experience)

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent executive qualification
  • Proven experience leading a business or major division with annual revenues between £10m and £20m
  • Full Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability with a track record of expanding margins and scaling operations
  • Strong track record building, structuring, and empowering senior management teams
  • Excellent commercial, financial, and strategic decision-making abilities
  • Experience within property, construction, facilities management, housing, infrastructure, or regeneration
  • Authentic, visible, and emotionally intelligent leadership style that combines accountability with coaching
  • Commercially driven approach balanced with high integrity and strong values
