Managing Director | Specialist Engineering & Manufacturing

North Lancashire / South Cumbria

£120,000–£150,000 + Equity

Axon Moore Executive is delighted to be partnering with a highly successful, privately owned engineering and manufacturing business to appoint a commercially driven Managing Director.

This is a rare opportunity to lead an established specialist manufacturer with an exceptional reputation, loyal customer base and an enviable track record of profitability.

The next phase of its journey is focused on accelerating commercial growth, broadening market opportunities and further increasing shareholder value. The Opportunity

Reporting to the shareholder, you will take full responsibility for leading the business through its next stage of development. You will shape strategy, drive commercial performance and strengthen operational capability whilst preserving the high-quality reputation that has made the business successful.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering the company's long-term growth strategy
  • Driving profitable revenue growth through both existing customers and identifying and developing new customer relationships
  • Identifying opportunities to broaden market reach and develop strategic partnerships
  • Providing full P&L leadership, ensuring continued focus on EBITDA, cash generation and operational performance
  • Introducing scalable commercial and operational processes that support future growth
  • Playing a key role in maximising long-term shareholder value

About You

We are keen to speak with experienced Managing Directors, General Managers or Divisional Leaders from engineering or manufacturing environments who combine commercial acumen with strong operational leadership.

You will bring:

  • A strong track record of delivering profitable growth
  • Experience leading engineering or manufacturing businesses
  • The ability to develop long-term customer relationships and identify new commercial opportunities
  • Strong financial and strategic awareness
  • A collaborative, hands-on leadership style suited to a growing SME environment
  • The credibility to lead highly technical teams whilst engaging confidently with customers and stakeholders

Experience of technically engineered products or bespoke manufacturing environments would be advantageous, although sector background is less important than your ability to understand complex engineering solutions and drive commercial performance.
