STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL - Managing Director - Commercial Bias

Precision Engineering | Aerospace & Defence

Yorkshire | £100,000–£110,000 + Leadership Package Opportunity

Our client is a highly respected, privately-owned precision engineering business with a proud manufacturing heritage spanning more than 60 years. Operating from a well-invested UK facility, alongside an established overseas manufacturing presence, the business supplies mission-critical components into some of the world's most demanding industrial sectors, including Aerospace, Defence, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, and Heavy Off-Highway equipment.

With a loyal blue-chip customer base, exceptional engineering capability, and an outstanding reputation for quality, the business is entering an exciting new phase of growth and is now seeking an entrepreneurial, commercially-driven Managing Director to lead it there.

The Opportunity

This is not a turnaround, and it is not simply an operational leadership role. It is a rare opportunity to take the helm of an established, profitable engineering business and shape its future, growing the order book, developing new strategic accounts, and expanding its footprint across Aerospace, Defence, and other high-value markets. A future Management Buy Out (MBO) opportunity is genuinely on the table for the right individual, offering a route to long-term ownership and value creation, not just a salary.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
