Head of Private Markets Research & Content
Managing Director level role
Location: London (with international travel)
IGA Talent are working with a well-established private markets advisory business looking to appoint a Head of Private Markets Research.
This is a senior role for someone who is genuinely passionate about private markets and enjoys developing views on what's happening across the industry, where it's going next, and what that means for investors. You'll be responsible for turning those insights into regular content, research and thought leadership while supporting the firm's growth and fundraising activities.
The remit is deliberately broad, combining thought leadership, market intelligence and commercial insight, with a particular focus on developing original perspectives on the evolution of private markets and communicating those views to the wider industry.
The role:
- Act as the firm's leading voice on private markets, developing informed viewpoints on market developments, structural shifts and emerging investment themes across private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real assets
- Produce a regular stream of high-quality written content, including a daily or frequent market blog, opinion pieces, investor commentary and longer-form thought leadership
- Identify and analyse emerging trends, considering not only what is happening within private markets today, but what current developments may mean for investors, managers and capital raising activity in the future
- Develop differentiated, opinion-led thought leadership aimed at investors, fund managers and market participants
- Produce in-depth research outputs, including thematic papers, market reports and sector deep-dives
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to translate market insights into content, client engagement opportunities and fundraising strategies
- Support business development through sector intelligence, target identification and strategic insight
- Undertake commercial and strategic due diligence on prospective fund clients, including assessment of strategy, track record and market positioning
- Represent the business externally at conferences, roundtables and industry events, acting as a recognised and credible commentator on private markets

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
