Overview Of The Department/Section
Within the market leading Structured Finance department, the Infrastructure team covers various transactions across EMEA, including, digital, transportation and social infrastructure. The strategy of the team is to increase this broadening of scope whilst expanding the geographical and sectoral focus in order to support clients whilst contributing to the broader GCIB strategies around FIs, ESG, Distribution and Cross Sell.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This role is responsible for supporting the strategic, client and sector origination/execution priorities of the Infrastructure team.
As a senior member of the business, you will also support the delivery of ESFO’s mission, vision, goals and strategies. Operating as a product expert, contributing to the origination, structuring and execution of the project finance product in the Infrastructure sector. Required to work closely with Relationship Managers to manage client sales/client interaction in order to support product development, risk solutions and cross-sell opportunities. Contribution to the originate-to-distribute strategy for EMEA is key as is working with both origination and distribution platforms to maximise related opportunities.
The role will play a key part in further developing, growing and sustaining of a market leading Structured Finance franchise in Infrastructure sector within the EMEA region.
Key Responsibilities
Bank
- As a senior member of the business, support the delivery of ESFO’s mission, vision, goals and strategies. Contribute to the delivery of the mission, vision, goals and strategies of GCIB and MUFG.
- Support in the development and implementation of product and client segment strategies and plans for the businesses, in collaboration with Coverage and the Head of Structured Finance Office for EMEA where appropriate.
- Lead specified ESFO projects, setting short term objectives to maximise sales and revenue generation in line with ESFO goals. Contribute to GCIB projects.
- Lead business development activity, such as ESFO specific marketing initiatives, and pitch opportunities in line with ESFO, GCIB objectives.
- Work in partnership with MUS(EMEA) and GCIB colleagues across all regions to share best practice, deliver an integrated global service to clients and win business across the Infrastructure sector.
- Build and maintain relationships with key high profile clients or counterparties, providing the highest standards of advice and service to ensure their continued trust in the Bank.
- Lead and execute high profile / strategically critical client transactions and negotiations at the most senior levels, ensuring that client and MUFG’s strategic objectives are met.
- Manage day to day client or counterparty interactions within the project finance area at a counterpart level; identifying and understanding client needs in order to develop and originate product solutions.
- Manage debt and advisory deal negotiations within specified limits for less complex projects.
- Analyse and interpret a range of complex financial and market data sources to understand product performance and potential impact.
- Manage the credit application process and present credit cases to internal audiences, showing an understanding of credit requirements to develop a compelling business rationale to enable transactions.
- Review documentation and carry accountability for the appropriate level of sign off within ESFO ensuring that documents are further actioned as appropriate.
- Accountable for the effective management of the deal team’s performance, ensuring they comply with the organisation’s governance policies and procedures.
- Represent MUFG at industry forums to share insights and expertise.
- Assist in the development of more junior members of the team by working collaboratively alongside them on deal opportunities and providing accurate developmental feedback.
- Ensure all team members are clear on what is expected of them and actively provide constructive feedback to their respective line managers during the course of the year.
- Ensure all direct reports are clear on what is expected and how they are performing against KPIs.

Securities
- Through collaboration with MUS employees, facilitate the marketing and origination of transactions with your area of specialism in respect to the MUS product suite. The non-functional nature of this role means that you will not be able to transact (which means lead any structuring, credit, execution or commitment discussions) on behalf of any MUS legal entity; though through your role in Project Finance you will be able to share data and information, attend both internal and external meetings, offering up views and opinions. All recommendations and final decisions around structure, credit, pricing, execution and commitment must be made by a MUS employee or a functional dual-hat employee.

- Extensive relevant industry experience with a deep conceptual understanding within project finance
- Experience of leading at a senior level, interpreting and delivering against strategic objectives
