Managing Director

Hertfordshire

Competitive base + Bonus + Car Allowance + Benefits

Lead the future of a respected precision gear manufacturer.

I am pleased to be working on a retained basis with a highly respected precision engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-precision gears, gear systems and specialist gearboxes. With a full order book, a respected name within the precision engineering industry and the backing of a successful international manufacturing group, the business supplies complex power transmission solutions into aerospace, defence and other demanding sectors.

They're now looking for an operationally driven, commercially minded Managing Director to lead the next stage of the business.

The company is already in a strong position, with loyal customers, an experienced leadership team and an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality engineered solutions. At the same time, there's a real opportunity for the right leader to improve operational performance, embed lean manufacturing principles, strengthen the commercial strategy and continue building on the success that's already been achieved.

This role will suit someone who enjoys being visible within the business, leading from the front and making decisions that make a real difference. You'll be as comfortable walking the shop floor as you are meeting customers, developing your leadership team or shaping the long-term direction of the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is an opportunity to lead a well-established engineering business with a secure order book, an excellent reputation and ambitious plans for the future. The business has strong foundations, but there's still plenty of opportunity to improve processes, develop people and build on what's already been achieved. You'll have the autonomy to make those decisions, backed by the support of an international manufacturing group that's committed to investing in the continued success of the business.

If you're looking for an opportunity where operational excellence, commercial growth and strong leadership go hand in hand, we'd love to hear from you.
