Onsite: 2x days per week ideally but total flexibility
Salary: £160k-£190k approx.

Following a successful Series B and planned Series C growth programme (£15m raise), we are seeking an experienced Managing Director to help transition the business from founder-led scale-up to a globally scalable, acquisition-ready technology platform.
The role aligns directly with the strategic objective outlined within the Series C plan to strengthen executive leadership and organisational scale.
The Opportunity
As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced Managing Director to act as the principal operating executive of the business and deputy to the CEO.
The Managing Director will be responsible for overall company performance and execution, translating strategy into results, building organisational capability, and ensuring the business scales effectively across international markets.
Working closely with the CEO, Board and executive leadership team, the Managing Director will play a pivotal role in preparing the company for continued international expansion, acquisitions, institutional investment and future strategic opportunities.
Role Purpose
The Managing Director will lead the day-to-day operation ensuring alignment across Commercial, Product, Technology, Operations, Customer Success, Finance and People functions.
The role exists to convert long-term strategic vision into disciplined execution, delivering sustainable revenue growth, profitability, operational scalability and customer success while maintaining the entrepreneurial culture that has driven success to date.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Partner with the CEO to execute the company’s strategic plan.
- Translate strategic objectives into annual operating plans and quarterly execution priorities.
- Lead delivery of Series C growth objectives and organisational scaling initiatives.
- Build organisational capability to support growth beyond £50m annual revenue.
- Support acquisition identification, due diligence and integration activities.
- Drive international expansion and operational scalability.
Business Performance
- Own overall company performance and execution.
- Lead cross-functional coordination across Commercial, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Operations, Finance and People.
- Establish KPIs, reporting frameworks and management operating rhythms.
- Implement scalable systems and governance structures.
- Drive operational efficiency and margin improvement initiatives.
- Ensure global support and service operations scale effectively.

Commercial Performance
Working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer:
- Deliver annual revenue and EBITDA targets.
- Improve customer retention and expansion metrics.
- Drive SaaS adoption across the installed customer base.
- Improve forecasting accuracy and sales execution.
- Support strategic account development.
- Oversee international market expansion.
Customer Success & Regional Operations
Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Regional General Managers:
- Driving customer retention, expansion and Net Revenue Retention (NRR) performance.
- Ensuring a consistent, high-quality customer experience across all international markets.
- Providing leadership and governance for strategic and enterprise customer relationships.
- Overseeing regional business performance and supporting international growth initiatives.
- Ensuring customer feedback and market insights inform business priorities and strategic decision-making.
- Championing customer satisfaction, advocacy and long-term partnership development.
- Supporting the development of scalable customer success capabilities and global support infrastructure.
- Aligning regional objectives with company-wide strategic and commercial goals.
Product & Technology Governance
Working with the Chief Product & Technology Officer:
- Ensure product roadmap aligns with strategic priorities.
- Balance innovation investment with commercial returns.
- Support software transformation and SaaS scaling.
- Monitor delivery of AI, platform and product initiatives.
- Ensure product teams remain customer-focused.
Financial Leadership
Working closely with the CFO:
- Deliver growth and profitability targets.
- Manage operating budgets.
- Improve gross margins and operating leverage.
- Support fundraising activities.
- Enhance financial planning and forecasting.
- Drive capital allocation decisions.
Leadership & Organisational Development
Working closely with the Head of People:
- Build, develop and lead a high-performing executive leadership team.
- Strengthen accountability, performance management and succession planning.
- Lead organisational change while preserving company culture and agility.
- Coach and mentor senior leaders across the organisation.
- Champion employee engagement, inclusion and professional development.
- Maintain entrepreneurial, innovative and customer-focused culture.
Board, Governance & Investor Readiness
- Participate in Board meetings and strategic planning activities.
- Prepare and present executive reports and business performance updates.
- Strengthen governance, risk management and organisational maturity.
- Build confidence with investors, lenders and institutional stakeholders.
- Support the company’s readiness for future acquisitions, strategic transactions and potential exit opportunities.
- Ensure the business develops systems and governance appropriate for institutional scale.

Experience
Essential
- Proven Managing Director, COO, General Manager or Divisional CEO experience.
- Experience scaling a technology or technology-enabled business from £10m-£50m+ revenue.
- Strong commercial and operational leadership background.
- Experience leading international operations and expansion
- Track record of building and leading high-performing leadership teams.
- Experience working with investors and boards.
- Experience implementing scalable systems, governance and operating frameworks.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
Desirable
- SaaS business experience.
- Hardware plus software business model experience.
- Food production or industrial technology sectors.
- M&A integration experience.
- Venture-backed or private-equity-backed growth companies.
- International market expansion.
