We have a new opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead our team working from our Central region, based at our office in Solihull on a permanent basis.

The Managing Quantity Surveyor will oversee the provision of quantity surveying services within the Commercial department of the Central region, managing a team and reporting into our Commercial Director, ensuring processes are both effective and value-improving for the business.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the department’s subcontract procurement process, ensuring that buying opportunities are maximised
  • Lead and develop a team, including reviews and training provision
  • Oversee the department’s subcontract management from first valuation to final account
  • Assisting the Commercial Director to oversee the production of the Value Cost Reconciliation, cash revenue, and cash expenditure, ensuring that they are delivered to a high level of accuracy
  • Liaise with other departments staff to ensure all department deadlines are achieved
  • Ensure third party rebate information is collated
  • Assist the Commercial Director with the negotiation of new contracts
  • Provide support and guidance to the department
  • Carry out regular site visits
  • Ensure that the opportunity to claim third party rebates are maximised through product specification
  • Support the department to achieve a prompt positive resolution of subcontract disputes

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Experience of leading, supporting and developing a Commercial team
  • Excellent knowledge of contract conditions and law within the Construction Industry
  • Proven success leading mixed tenure housing development projects
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand technical drawings, programmes and specifications alongside practical experience of construction processes and technologies
  • Experience of effectively managing key working relationships with other departments to support delivery
  • Managing external supply chain partners
  • Time management, using experience and knowledge of systems, programmes and supply chain to effectively delivery targets on time
  • Experience in impacting how construction technologies and product innovation can be utilised to improve the commercial success or projects
  • Working knowledge of project risks and opportunities related to environmental, social, and governance criteria can be managed
  • Must demonstrate a high standard of IT skills, proficient in the use of Coins and MS Office - Excel and Word
  • Full UK Driving licence
