Managing Quantity Surveyor Consultant to Senior level Newcastle (Hybrid working, mixture of home, office and client sites) Permanent Full-time with flexible working and core hours Gleeds is a leading global property and construction consultancy. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a permanent basis. In this team you will play a crucial part in delivering and monitoring Defence programmes which are the most technical and complex challenges facing us today, helping to keep the UK safe from current and future threats.
Your day to day could sometimes involve:
Operating with NEC form of Contract such as Option A, B, C and E as well as bespoke forms of contract. Track total costs (hours, third party and consumables) for manufacturing. Attend meetings relating to cost and progress. Provide cost reports/summaries as required. Review third party and consumable costs for disallowed items, check sub-contract invoices for errors/mis-bookings. Maintain live completion date tracker. Review supplier commercial reports for accuracy. Maintain awareness of key issues that can affect cost/time/quality. Liaise with head office when queries are raised (estimating, budget holders, seniors etc,). Liaise with site quality team with regard to rework and be aware of major issues. Who we're looking for Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management, experience in the Nuclear / Civil engineering / Engineering (Including Service Contracting) sectors is desired but not essential. Broad spectrum of technical knowledge relating to Procurement, Supply Chain, Cost and Commercial Management - ideally both pre and post contract. Experience of standard forms of contract, including the NEC suite, and Public Contract Regulations 2015 would be beneficial, and candidates personal and communication skills, ambition, drive and energy will be considered equally important to be successful. Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background (e.g.: Engineering) may be considered. Professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable, and will be supported if not already attained.
