Managing Quantity Surveyor – Major Highways Infrastructure Project

A leading UK infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major highways and civil engineering scheme in the East Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading commercial role on a high-profile infrastructure development that will have a lasting impact on regional connectivity and transport improvements.

The Role The Managing Quantity Surveyor will oversee the commercial management of a large-scale highways project, leading a team of surveyors and ensuring strong financial and contractual control throughout the lifecycle of the scheme.

Key Responsibilities Leading the commercial function across the project Managing and mentoring Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff Overseeing cost reporting, forecasting, and budgeting Managing subcontract procurement, administration, and final accounts Ensuring compliance with NEC contract requirements Identifying commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies Supporting operational teams with commercial and contractual advice Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners Driving commercial performance and maximising project profitability

Candidate Requirements Proven experience in a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within major infrastructure or highways projects Strong knowledge of NEC contracts Experience managing large civil engineering or highways schemes Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills Strong commercial acumen and negotiation ability Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline preferred Professional membership (RICS/CICES or similar) advantageous
