Mantis Operator UK

Join the team

Ter Bron builds technology for well intervention and plug & abandonment. Our system — MANTIS — is a hydraulic workover unit designed to seal wells with minimal footprint, minimal crew on the wellhead, and maximum control.

We're a small team. We designed it, built it, tested it, and now we're deploying it. There are no layers here — if you join, you'll be close to the work, close to the decisions, and close to the people making them.

There are hundreds of thousands of wells across Europe that need to be dealt with. We're building the team to do it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

About The Role

MANTIS is heading to the field. Built from scratch by a small Dutch engineering team, our hydraulic workover system is completing its first field deployments across continental Europe — and we're building the crew that will operate it.

We're not hiring based on certificates. We're hiring based on character. If you've worked around machinery, rigs, fabrication yards or anything mechanical and you're hungry to build a real career in well intervention — we want to talk.

You'll join the team in the field across Europe, training directly on the MANTIS system alongside the people who designed and built it. As the programme grows towards North Sea operations, so will your role. Aberdeen is our base for UK operations. This is ground floor.

Requirements

  • Travel with the MANTIS to field deployments across continental Europe and learn to operate it on location.
  • Support rig-up, equipment checks, operations and post-job maintenance.
  • Work as part of a small, close-knit field crew.
  • Build up hands-on knowledge of hydraulic workover operations from the ground up.
  • Follow well control and HSEQ procedures at all times.
  • Be available for extended periods away from home during field campaigns.

About You

  • You're based in or around Aberdeen.
  • You have a background in mechanical, oil & gas, fabrication, or any hands-on technical work — or you've just always been good with your hands.
  • You're willing to travel across Europe for field work; that's the job and you're fine with it.
  • You're reliable, physically fit and comfortable working in demanding outdoor environments.
  • You learn fast, ask good questions and take pride in doing things properly.

What we have to offer

  • Full hands-on training on a unique, purpose-built well intervention system — in the field, not a classroom.
  • Travel across continental Europe as MANTIS completes its first operational campaign.
  • Competitive salary plus field day rate.
  • A direct line to the people making decisions — no corporate layers.
  • Clear progression path: trainee → operator → lead operator, growing as the system grows.
  • Be part of the early crew on a technology that's just getting started.
