The Role: Ethical Hacker
Mission: Safeguard Bank of America’s applications from threats by assessing vulnerabilities. Impact: Act as digital investigators to identify risks, collaborate with teams, and strengthen defences.
Key Responsibilities
- Statements of Work (SoW) & Application Testing:
- Understand application requirements and their cybersecurity contexts.
- Conduct penetration testing and manual ethical hacking on:
- Web applications
- Mobile applications
- Web services
- Prioritise security by identifying weaknesses that expose the bank to cyber risks.

Collaboration & Risk Management:
- Present findings to stakeholders, facilitating discussions on remediation timelines.
- Liaise with clients, management, and staff to implement data security procedures and tools.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME):
- Provide guidance to reduce vulnerabilities during app development.
- Lead training sessions for technical and non-technical colleagues.

Frontline Problem-Solving:
- Develop Proof-of-Concept (PoC) hacking scenarios.
- Support incident triage and ensure high-value security findings.
- Adapt processes through critical thinking and evidence-based analysis.
Technical & Professional Requirements
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
✅ 5+ years in Ethical Hacking or Cybersecurity (directly related). ✅ Expert-level technical knowledge in at least three of these areas:
- General information security
- Security engineering
- Application architecture
- Authentication & security protocols
- Session management techniques
- Applied cryptography
- Network/Web protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UNIX/LINUX)
- Mobile frameworks
- Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Automated exploit platforms
- RESTful web services
✅ Manual hacking expertise:
- Ability to reproduce attacks (e.g., SQLi, XSS) without tools.
- Strong hands-on skills with:
- Vulnerability assessment tools (Burp Suite, Invicti, SQLMap, etc.).
- Debugging and scripting/programming (e.g., Python, Bash).
✅ Soft Skills:
- Exceptional written/oral communication for presentations and remediation briefings.
- Multitasking agility to manage concurrent projects and deadlines.
Preferred Skills Bonus:
- Familiarity with cloud security or API testing scenarios.
- Familiarity with Bank of America’s client bases (e.g., financial systems, compliance frameworks like PCI-DSS/ISO 27001).
