About the Role

Our Grocery Service Centre (based near Liverpool) provides Shared Service support across Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR, and IT, working in tandem with brands like Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita, and Silver Spoon.

As part of the production operations team in our Belfast bakery, you’ll play a key role in ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality production under a rotational shift (both days and night shifts).

Key Accountabilities

As a Skilled Operative, your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring efficient production operations, meeting quality standards and minimising waste while maintaining compliance with environmental management systems.
  • Continuously reviewing processes to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising production efficiency or resource utilisation.
  • Preparing and safely operating plant/equipment, performing minor maintenance adjustments and reporting major faults via EAM (Enterprise Asset Management).
  • Upholding Allied Bakeries’ Site Standards, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring compliance during internal/external audits.
  • Monitoring for potential food contamination risks, addressing issues via HACCP principles, and escalating unresolved concerns to the Plant/Shift Manager.
  • Following all instructions, training, and guidance, adopting best practices and contributing them to team processes.
  • Working as part of a team to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), addressing performance gaps in product quality, facility efficiency, or costs.
  • Demonstrating flexibility to transfer skills across different operational areas, as capabilities may be required site-wide.

The Right Person

Essential Criteria

  • A strong understanding of health, safety, and food safety procedures within a manufacturing environment.
  • Numerical proficiency, ability to read instructions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience operating equipment or performing tasks in a production setting.
  • Proven leadership experience as a supervisor/Team Leader, confirming you have effective organisational skills.
  • Holding Basic Food Hygiene, Pest Awareness, and HACCP training standards.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends.

Advantages

  • Familiarity with baking processes and techniques.
  • CIEH Level 2 Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, IOSH or equivalent qualification.
  • Current Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Knowledge of major food hygiene/Good Manufacturing Practice elements as per Allied Bakeries’ industry standards.
  • Experience in effective workload management and prioritisation within fast-paced environments.
