Manufacturing Engineer – Process Development (Advanced Manufacturing)
Location: Inchinnan, Scotland | Head Office
Peak Scientific is a global leader in gas generation solutions for laboratories, where innovation and continuous improvement are central to our approach. We’re seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Process Development to join our Manufacturing Engineering team and deliver on our vision for cutting-edge production.
This is an opportunity for a dynamic engineer with a passion for automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and Industry 4.0, enabling you to drive transformation and redefine how we manufacture.
About the Role
As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will:
- Push the boundaries of manufacturing by designing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated automation solutions.
- Elevate our processes through data-driven insights, predictive analytics, and Industry 4.0 enablers like digital twins and IIoT.
- Lead process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 methodologies to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and quality.
- Report to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead and work collaboratively across Production, Quality, IT, and R&D teams.
Capabilities include:
- Driving digital manufacture—from complex robotics to multi-axis CNC setups.
- Overseeing vendor selection, technology implementation, and cost justification for high-value projects.
- Ensuring systems comply with ISO 9001, ITAR (where applicable), and our ethical standards.
- Championing health, safety, and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Integration
- Identify, assess, and deploy advanced manufacturing technologies, including robotics/CBOTs, Machine Vision, PLCs, and HMIs.
- Specify best-in-class CAD/CAM systems and workflows for automation.

Project Delivery & Transformation
- Take projects from concept to live execution, including vendor management, risk mitigation, and ROI justification.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment on process changes.

Data & Analytics
- Build real-time dashboards to monitor performance metrics and drive predictive maintenance.
- Develop digital work instructions, validation protocols, and maintenance documentation.

Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma with a digital twist—leveraging AI and IoT for process let-ups.
- Establish and refine sustainable manufacturing practices.

Team Development
- Deliver technical training on automation, IoT, and Industry 4.0 tools.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the site and HQs, fostering a culture of innovation and profitability.
Requirements
- Degree: Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with automation (PLC programming – Omron/Siemens/Allen-Bradley), robotics (collaborative & programmable), and industry software.
- Understanding of machine vision, SCADA systems, and wired/wireless data protocols.
- Methodologies:
- Proven track record of Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement projects.
- Ability to apply Industry 4.0 principles to real problems.
- Soft Skills & Leadership:
- Exudes clear agency and enthusiasm for problem-solving.
- Thrives in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams (industrial, IT, operations, strategic).
- Communicates complex ideas at all levels effectively, with a focus on training.
- Key Splinters:
- Experience with CAD disciplines and a desire to drive model-based processes.
