About the Role
We’re seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support our team in developing and refining manufacturing processes for precision-machined components across various materials.
Collaborating closely with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, and Operations, you’ll propose robust manufacturing solutions, champion continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure products transition smoothly into production with a strong emphasis on Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Your contributions will include process optimisation, automation projects, Design-for-Manufacture (DfM) activities, and the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for complex, high-precision components
- Create and maintain machining processes for components with tight tolerances
- Support Continuous Improvement (CI) projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Drive operational improvements in:
- Safety
- Quality
- Efficiency
- Cost reduction
- Provide Design-for-Manufacture (DfM) guidance during product development
- Contribute to APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities, including:
- DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Control Plans
- MSA (Measurement System Analysis) studies
- Assist with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) workflows and interpretations of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Design and review tooling and fixturing solutions
- Review and approve manufacturing documentation, such as:
- Work Instructions (WIs)
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain manufacturing routings in SAP/Solumina
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities
- Identify and deliver automation opportunities within the manufacturing environment
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to ensure seamless production readiness
- Minimise machine downtime from process issues in day-to-day operations
- Support Lead and Senior Manufacturing Engineers in meeting departmental objectives and production targets

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Manufacturing Engineering experience within a precision machining context
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes and manufacturing methods
- Expertise in cutting tool selection and optimisation
- Fixture and tooling design proficiency
- Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action methodologies (CAPA)
- Familiarity with APQP and quality improvement tools
- Lean Manufacturing and CI (Continuous Improvement) experience
Desirable
- CAM programming (preferably with Edgecam or Siemens NX)
- 5-axis milling process development
- NC post-processing knowledge
- Experience using SAP or Solumina
- Six Sigma certification or practical experience
- Implementation of automation solutions in manufacturing
- Knowledge of PPAP, GD&T, and DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) methodologies
