Manufacturing Engineer – Wimborne
Eaton is currently recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Wimborne.
Our state-of-the-art facility in Wimborne—formerly Cobham Mission Systems, now part of the Eaton portfolio—specialises in manufacturing air-to-air refuelling systems and actuation (weapons carriage), primarily for defence markets.
With a workforce of 1,000+, the site deploys the most advanced techniques in AI, machine learning, integrated testing, and next-generation systems. Eaton is a people-focused organisation dedicated to career growth and worker happiness.
All candidates must be eligible for security clearance due to ITAR regulation at this site.
About the Role
Eaton Mission Systems is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer to support production and aftermarket activities within our air-to-air refuelling and actuation value streams.
This role involves:
- Optimising assembly and testing processes
- Providing technical guidance to manufacturing operatives
- Ensuring on-time product delivery to customers while maintaining high-quality standards
The position is on-site, full-time, based at our facility in Wimborne.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing Process Ownership: Responsible for all manufacturing engineering tasks at the facility, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry regulations.
- Technical Documentation: Interpret manufacturing data (drawings, test schedules) to create manufacturing instructions in the ERP and digitalised manufacturing execution systems.
- Problem-Solving: Diagnose and address manufacturing issues, providing solutions to the shop floor team.
- Process Improvement & Optimisation:
- Generate and maintain production routings and bills of material in the ERP System.
- Review and implement engineering change notifications (ECNs).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and increase process repeatability.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with subject matter experts, internal teams, and external suppliers.
- Support supply chain teams in resolving queries.
- Tooling & Process Integration: Identify tooling requirements and optimise build sequences.
- Quality Assurance:
- Support Eaton’s zero-defect programme by implementing APQP, PFMEA, and RCCA principles.
- Act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in quality processes.
- Team Leadership & Safety:
- Lead by example in promoting a proactive health & safety culture.
- Attend daily tier meetings, material review boards, and engineering change reviews.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, with a preference for aerospace industry experience.
- Familiarity with EASA/CAA Part 21 or 145 is highly desirable.

Key Skills
- Role Essential:
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, other supply chain tools).
- Strong knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing processes (e.g., precision machining, precision assembly).
- Role Desirable:
- Experience in PPAP / APQP processes.
- Health & Safety qualifications (i.e., IOSH, NEBOSH, Green Belt).
