Location: Kopin Europe Ltd., Dalgety Bay, Scotland

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background to join our growing high-tech manufacturing team. This role is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes that ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient production of products.
You will have the opportunity to contribute across multiple disciplines, play a key role in scaling production, introducing new products, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for both new and existing products
- Design, specify, and procure production tooling, fixtures, jigs, and test equipment to improve efficiency, repeatability, and product quality
- Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including process development, documentation, and validation
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to production, resolving technical issues and minimizing downtime
- Support equipment selection, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and process validation
- Analyze manufacturing workflows to identify opportunities for productivity improvements, cost reduction, and waste elimination
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including:
- Work instructions
- Process flows
- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Bills of Materials
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve manufacturing and quality issues
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company quality standards and health & safety requirements

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role within a high-tech, electronics, or precision mechanical environment
- Experience with:
- Process development
- Production support
- Continuous improvement methodologies
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
- Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small team
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
Preferred Job Requirements
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with ISO quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001)
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and process validation
- Prioritized experience with automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies
- Experience working in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment

General Information
Working Hours
- 39-hour work week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 4:00 PM finish on Fridays)
- Flexibility in working hours is supported, but willingness to adapt is expected
Location & Remote Work
- The role is based in St. David’s Business Park, Dalgety Bay, Fife
- UK work permit required for this position
- Flexibility supported for on and off-site work (hybrid/home working) where practicable
- Occasional travel may be required
