Automation Engineer

The Opportunity:

What a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with experience of Automation, industrial robots, control systems, CMM programming and/or CAM. The Automation Engineer will join a rapidly expanding large engineering firm in Exeter, working on developing automated manufacturing processes throughout the entire business. This is a huge area of growth for them, and will see the business becoming one of the key robotic facilities in the South West.

The Role:

  • Create, verify, and release robot programs for automated cells and manufacturing equipment.
  • Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
  • Creating supporting documentation for automated equipment (SOP and EMS)
  • Responsible for program storage, data back-ups and revision control for manufacturing equipment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of five years experience programming one of the following: Industrial robots, Control systems, CNC Milling or EDM Machines, combined with an in-depth knowledge of automation systems.
  • Candidates with less experience than 5 years will be considered, but it is essential you have a minimum of 1 year, plus a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering. A relevant degree or HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of tooling and fixture design.
  • CMM Programming experience, PLC or other logic-based programming experience beneficial
  • Proficient in CNC Milling, CAM an advantage (Heidenhain controls)

Working Hours:

8.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday

  • Competitive salary of £35-50,000 depending on your experience and qualifications as graduates AND highly experienced candidates will be considered.
