Job Title

Manufacturing Engineer – Salary: £42,000–£57,000 (depending on skills demonstrated) | Contract: Fixed Term until 31st December 2027

Location

Desford, Leicestershire


The Opportunity

If you’re a Manufacturing Engineer passionate about solving real-world production challenges, our team in Desford could be the place for you.

You’ll apply your engineering expertise across equipment and manufacturing processes, working collaboratively to drive:

  • Improved reliability
  • Continuous operational enhancements
  • Compliance with safety, efficiency, and legal standards

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve, but is not limited to:

  • Process and Equipment Optimisation

    • Lead the identification, development, and implementation of improvements/modifications to enhance performance and reliability in manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Cross-Functional Support

    • Provide critical engineering support to ensure production, cost, quality, safety, and environmental requirements are met across operations.
  • Reliability & Troubleshooting

    • Monitor equipment/process reliability, identify issues, and support investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving frameworks.
  • Engineering Change Management

    • Review/analyse engineering change notices (ECNs) to assess impacts and coordinate the implementation of approved changes.
  • Holistic Manufacturing Support

    • Assist in the planning, development, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, processes, and facilities.

What You Should Demonstrate

Leveraging a Basic Understanding

  • Problem Solving: Apply structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams) to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing or equipment challenges in a production environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Use basic lean principles (e.g., waste reduction, efficiency improvements) to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Leveraging Working Knowledge

  • Manufacturing Engineering: Specify, install, commission and support equipment and control systems to meet engineering, safety, quality, and reliability standards.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Understand, maintain, and optimise defined processes to align with production planning, execution, and monitoring (including integrating new technologies).

Experience You May Have

  • Familiarity with assembly, testing, or finishing environments and their application in production support.
  • Understanding of engineering change processes and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and quality tools (e.g., 8D, (5 Why), DOCCA) for equipment and process issue resolution.
  • A technical education in manufacturing engineering or a related field.

On-Site Commitment
