Location
UK – Dartford, Nottingham, Worksop, Manchester
An opportunity has arisen to join a Technology & Innovation team delivering next-generation manufacturing solutions for the construction sector. The focus is on advanced, industrialised production systems including automation, digital manufacturing and factory-based delivery.
This role suits engineers experienced in designing and industrialising production systems, looking to apply that capability in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Who Would This Role Suit?
- Engineers from automotive, aerospace, robotics, EV/battery, or advanced manufacturing
- Construction professionals with experience in modular, DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) or manufacturing exposure, and a keen interest in industrialisation

The team is focused on transforming construction through manufacturing principles — developing production systems, processes and facilities that enable scalable, efficient delivery.
What Duties Will the Manufacturing Engineer Be Responsible For?
The role involves defining, developing, and industrialising manufacturing processes for new facilities, translating product designs into buildable, operable production systems.

Working across process design, facility layout, and equipment integration, responsibilities include supporting delivery from concept to commissioning and ramp-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Define manufacturing processes, including:
- Flow and workstation design
- Cycle times and throughput
- Develop factory layouts, line configurations, and material handling solutions
- Specify equipment, tooling, robotics, and automation, collaborating with suppliers through:
- Concept development
- FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)/SAT (Site Acceptance Test)
- Installation
- Support commissioning, validation, and ramp-up, resolving:
- Bottlenecks
- Performance issues
- Collaborate across product and process in dynamic, first-of-a-kind environments
Essential Experience
- Background in:
- Automotive
- Aerospace
- Robotics
- Advanced manufacturing
- Construction with manufacturing exposure
- Experience in designing production lines, cells, or facility layouts
- Understanding of:
- Process flow
- Material handling
- Production systems
- Experience with:
- Equipment specification
- Supplier liaison
- Automation
- Exposure to:
- Commissioning
- Industrialisation
- Production start-up
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a practical, delivery-focused approach

Desirable Experience
- Experience in FOAK (First of a Kind) or NPI (New Product Introduction) environments
- Knowledge of digital manufacturing or production modelling tools
- Prior experience working with integrators or equipment suppliers
- Awareness of:
- Cost constraints
- Schedule pressures
- Delivery deadlines
