The role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s engaging and challenging. Working on building both current and future defence systems within launch and handling. Your work will contribute to shaping the future of submarine capability within defence. Utilising our track record of innovation, you’ll continually develop your knowledge and expertise in all things manufacturing too.

You’ll be the product owner of a whole host of machined components and assembled sub-systems, providing technical expertise in the development, launch and support of manufacturing methods for complex components and assemblies. Maintaining product support throughout its manufacturing lifecycle liaising with the various production, procurement and engineering stakeholders. You will also support the estimation and design of brand new, innovative components ensuring they are suitable for manufacture.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Act as the product owner for a range of machined parts and assemblies, both simple and highly complex.
  • Provide technical expertise in the development, launch, and support of manufacturing methods for a wide range of machined products and assemblies.
  • Maintain product support throughout its manufacturing lifecycle, liaising with various production, procurement, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Support the estimation and design of new, innovative designs ensuring they are suitable for manufacture.
  • Support technical investment projects engaging with key stakeholders and aligning outcomes to budgets and improvements.

This is a full-time, on-site role, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Essential Experience Of The Manufacturing Engineer

  • Strong experience in milling and turning, with the ability to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Proven experience estimating machining and assembly processes from 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Ability to interpret and work to technical drawings, with knowledge of GD&T requirements.
  • Computer literate and able to pick up new software/ERP (IFS/SAP etc).
  • Understanding of various work holding options and the design of innovative fixture methods, with a background in manufacturing engineering being beneficial.

Qualifications For The Manufacturing Engineer

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) clearance for this role. Must be a sole UK national.
