Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor – Primary Areas

Why You Should Join

We’re seeking a motivated, hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to lead a sub-team of engineers in Machining, Plating, and Moulding at our Hastings site.

As a supervisor, you’ll:

  • Manage day-to-day priorities and workloads, ensuring your team delivers results.
  • Act as a key deputy to the Manager, providing leadership when needed.
  • Foster partnership and trust within the team and across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team & Process Leadership

    • Oversee a team of Manufacturing & Prove Out Engineers supporting Machining, Plating, 2nd Operations, Welding, and Moulding.
    • Drive cost-effective improvements in set times and efficiency in FY24, aligning with product demands.
  • Technical & Operational Management

    • Deliver continuous improvement in Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and workflow efficiency.
    • Define, document, and train on best practices, covering both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI).
    • Ensure timely, high-quality production by attending/driving daily meetings and resolving technical challenges.
  • Technical Process Management

    • Document tooling, work holding, and gauging requirements for seamless production onboarding.
    • Maintain accuracy in SAP, ensuring routers, work centres, and costed batch sizes are upheld.
    • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and Government policies.

  • Team & Workforce Development

    • Mentor operations to effectively shape new team members, designing and monitoring training plans.
    • Lead performance management, balancing both individual and group development.
  • Strategic Execution

    • Represent the team by deputising for the Manufacturing Engineering Manager as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • Technical Degree/HNC in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or equivalent professional experience (5+ years).
  • Industry experience in CNC Machining, Plating, Welding, or Moulding.
  • Strong supervisory or team-leader experience.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency using Microsoft software.
  • Comprehensive experience with SAPoperations.
  • Experience with quality control tools such as flow diagrams, PFMEA’s, control plans, and quality inspection plans.

Problem-Solving & Leadership

  • Ability to analyze and implement technical process improvements, utilizing 5 Why’s, fishbone diagrams, and 8D reports.
  • Competency in advanced techniques:
    • Continuous improvement (Flow & Material Replenishment, Cell Design, SMED, 5S+1, Mistake Proofing).
    • Proven ability to mentor both formal and unofficial team leadership.
