Job Title: Manufacturing Improvement Coordinator
Days (7.00am to 3.30pm Mon to Thurs and 7.00am – 12pm Friday)
Responsible To: Technical Manager
General Summary of Position:
The Manufacturing Improvement Coordinator will support the Technical Manager in delivering tooling, process development, continuous improvement, and technical projects across the business. The role is designed as a development position, providing exposure to all aspects of the Technical Department while building the skills and knowledge required to progress into a future Continuous Improvement Engineer or Technical Manager role.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Account Management teams to drive efficiency, improve manufacturing processes, support new product introduction, and assist in the development of robust tooling and production methods.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the Technical Manager with the design, development, trial, and improvement of tooling for both new and existing products.
- Assist with Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews to ensure products can be manufactured efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
- Work with engineering and production teams to help develop robust fabrication and assembly processes.
- Participate in tooling prove-outs, process validation, and production improvement activities.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of technical documentation, process instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Support problem-solving activities relating to fabrication, tooling, quality, and production challenges.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase manufacturing efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and waste reduction principles.
- Collect, analyse, and present manufacturing performance data to support decision-making and improvement activities.
- Assist with the implementation of new technologies, equipment, and manufacturing methods.
- Develop an understanding of fabrication processes including laser cutting, presswork, welding, assembly, and metal finishing.
- Support fixture, gauging, and tooling development projects.
- Assist with prototype manufacture and new product introduction activities.
- Work with Production and Quality teams to help resolve manufacturing issues and improve process capability.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Support HSE compliance by ensuring improvement initiatives and technical activities are carried out safely.
- Learn leadership, project coordination, and decision-making skills through mentoring by the Technical Manager.

Individual should be/have:
Essential
- Understanding of fabrication or sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Strong interest in manufacturing, engineering, and process improvement.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership of projects.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Engineering, Manufacturing, or Technical qualification (or working towards one).
- Experience using CAD software.
- Awareness of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
