- Working Hours: 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour shifts (6am–6pm)

At our Cavaghan & Gray site in Carlisle, we create delicious, high-quality products for M&S, producing over 115 million units annually across 150+ product lines.
About the Role
We’re seeking a driven, hands-on Manufacturing Manager to lead our Carlisle site during a major transformation period. This is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, with a focus on performance, people, and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations across 7 key production lines, managing a team of 200+ staff.
- Play a critical role in sustaining 200,000 units produced every 24-hour cycle.
- Lead and support Production Managers for both days and nights, ensuring smooth handovers.
- Drive KPI performance, including materials usage, labour variances, and efficiency.
- Actively manage challenges such as breakdowns, staff shortages, and supply disruptions.
- Spend time on the factory floor, troubleshooting start-up processes, and embedding hygiene and quality standards.
- Support site-wide transformation projects, collaborating with engineering, hygiene, technical, and logistics teams.
- Analyse production data, chair meetings, and implement insights to improve operations.

About You
We’re looking for candidates with:
- Strong leadership skills—ability to inspire and engage teams.
- Proven experience in high-volume manufacturing.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to visibility on the shop floor.
- Ability to balance data analytics with operational management.
- Drive, resilience, and a proactive mindset—viewing challenges as opportunities.
