About the Role

As a CNC Machinist, you will play a pivotal role in managing and operating our precision CNC turning equipment, from setup to operation. Your expertise ensures seamless machine performance, safety protocol compliance, and adherence to high-quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing parts production based on manufacturing orders.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, understanding tool cutting points, and applying TNR compensation.
  • Editing, if required, CNC programs for job precision.
  • Selecting and setting the correct tools for production tasks.
  • Measuring physical seal dimensions using mechanical and optical equipment to ensure tolerances are met.
  • Conducting batch inspections at regular intervals as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Identifying defects and disposing of non-compliant parts.
  • Operating multiple CNC machines across varying product lines.
  • Adjusting machines for first-off parts, verifying dimensions against engineering specifications.
  • Logging job details (start/end times, etc.) via barcode scanning to ensure traceability.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace between tasks.

Requirements & Skills

We seek candidates with hands-on experience in CNC turning, strong expertise in engineering and production, and a keen attention to detail.

  • Experience:
    • Ideally, experience with Fanuc controls or Okuma machines (training available if motivated).
    • Ability to swiftly adapt to new machines, products, and production areas.
  • Technical Competencies:
    • Interpretation of engineering drawings with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
    • Experience operating CNC machinery within a production environment.
    • Proficient in protocols for batch inspection and defect rectification.
  • Training & Qualifications:
    • Holding a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Soft Skills & Work Ethic:
    • Strong time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
    • Commitment to high standards of discipline, housekeeping, and productivity.
    • Health & Safety awareness, with consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Shift Pattern & Location

  • Primarily site-based in Bridgwater.
  • Full-time role with rotating shift hours:
    • Week 1: 06:00 – 14:00
    • Week 2: 14:00 – 22:00
