Job Description: Manufacturing Quality Manager
Summary
The Manufacturing Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing quality control processes and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) within the manufacturing facility. As a key member of the leadership team, you will drive operational excellence in the SQDC framework (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) while ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with regulatory standards.
You will lead the quality team, develop control measures, and work cross-functionally to encourage continuous improvement. The role involves production support, maintaining efficient line operations, and fostering a strong quality and safety culture with engaged, motivated staff. Effective collaboration with internal/external stakeholders—including customers—is essential.
Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to meet manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, certifications, and customer quality agreements.

Team Leadership
- Lead and cultivate a GE Vernova Way culture, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
- Manage the quality team with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Conduct root cause analysis for non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

Process Improvement
- Identify and drive improvements to enhance product quality and efficiency.
- Maintain a data-driven quality improvement process, targeting reduction in variation using KPIs.
- Analyse metrics and address issues through structured problem-solving techniques.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to uphold quality standards.
- Facilitate collaboration between departments to resolve quality-related challenges.

Customer Focus
- Address customer quality concerns promptly and transparently.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CPAs).

Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of non-conformance reports, audits, and inspections.
- Prepare actionable quality performance reports for management review.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
Desirable Attributes
- Certified Quality Management (CQM), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or equivalent.
- ISO 9001 Quality Management System (Leader/Auditor) certification.
- Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PPAP, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Leadership experience in quality-focused industries (e.g., automotive, aerospace, defence).
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems).
- Valid UK Safety Qualification, e.g.:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Equivalent recognised certification.

Key Skills
- Interpretation of technical drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
- Total Quality Management (TQM/TQC), Six Sigma (preferably Green/Black Belt), Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Ability to analyse complex data and drive improvements using structured methods (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA).
Working Conditions
- Occasional travel to supplier/customer sites may be required.
- May involve standing or walking for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
