Manufacturing Team Leader – Detectors Line of Business *£44,171–£46,000 (grade-based framework)
Your Impact
We are seeking Manufacturing Team Leaders to support the Detectors Line of Business (LoB) within the Production function at our Southampton site. As a Manufacturing Team Leader, you’ll:
- Oversee the manufacture of complex processes, ensuring consistency in production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Provide strong people leadership, driving engagement, performance, and development to achieve operational success
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of Operators and Technicians in a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative environment
- Direct production activities for a medium to large team, set objectives, and assess performance while fostering individual development under Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards
- Act as a visible and approachable leader, promoting open communication, addressing concerns, and improving employee engagement and wellbeing
- Influence cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, project management) to optimise design, quality, and manufacturing processes based on technical expertise
- Drive continuous improvement and workplace transformation via KPIs, problem-solving, and technical issue resolution
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to ensure teams are operationally effective and aligned with objectives
- Develop team capabilities through succession planning, talent identification, and training in company systems
- Ensure adherence to technical specifications and quality standards for products

What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Proven experience in Manufacturing within Semi-Conductor, AIT (Advanced Technology and Innovation), Aerospace, Defence, or high-reliability industries
- Team leadership or supervisory experience (desired)
- Deep practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and technical proficiency (e.g., HND, degree, or equivalent industry experience)
- In-depth understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental principles (IOSH qualification required; training available)
- Familiarity with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100)
- Ability to persuade, influence, and communicate technical insights clearly
- Proficiency in SAP (technical modules for manufacturing, procurement, or supply chain)
Desirable:
- Experience in clean room environments
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- Exposure to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
