We dedicate ourselves to broadening the realms of human potential and are actively seeking an enthusiastic and devoted Manufacturing Technician to join our pioneering team in Oxford.


About the Role

We believe in the power of relentless curiosity and the pursuit of excellence. As an ONI Manufacturing Technician, your work will help shape the future of scientific exploration and breakthroughs in healthcare. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assemble super-resolution microscopes in accordance with work instructions and defined protocols
  • Assemble, calibrate, and perform quality control on:
    • Opto-mechanical and electronic subcomponents
    • Laser components
  • Carry out optical alignment of lasers, mirrors, and lenses, alongside quality control and testing
  • Align and quality control systems-level products
  • Conduct quality control on components and materials from vendors to ensure FIQA process tolerance standards are met
  • Review and adhere to technical documentation, including drawings, work instructions, and SOPs
  • Maintain cleanroom and workspace hygiene to meet particulate and dust control standards

Responsibilities

Core Tasks

  • System Assembly & Alignment
    • Assemble sub-components as per detailed protocols.
    • Perform laser calibration and alignment of optical systems.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Inspect and verify tolerances for incoming components.
    • Execute functional testing of advanced microscopy equipment.
  • Technical Document Review
    • Analyse engineering drawings, SOPs, and technical specifications for adherence during work.
  • Cleanroom Operations
    • Uphold rigorous cleanliness standards in class-critical environments.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in assembling high-precision equipment using intricate sub-components.
  • Strict adherence to precise work instructions for assembly and alignment tasks.
  • Skill in using workshop and hand tools for assembling or machining operations.
  • Competence handling laser-grade optical components with care.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, including:
    • Engineering drawings
    • Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Quality control requirements

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience assembling devices in a cleanroom environment.
  • Membership of a manufacturing or engineering team.
  • Higher education in:
    • Engineering (general, optical, or electrical)
