Manufacturing Technician Apprentice – Aberystwyth

The Role
The Manufacturing Technician Apprentice will join our Manufacturing Department, reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
As an apprentice, you’ll be trained to:
- Assemble, test, and calibrate our instrumentation and related equipment, including:
- EMC and PAT testing (Electromagnetic Compatibility & Process Analytical Technology)
- Temperature cycling and final product validation
- Work in a cleanroom environment while ensuring precision
- Perform soldering operations and use laser engravers, welders, lathes, and other workshop machinery
- Maintain records of parts and quality checks in build documentation

Success in this role requires:

Full apprenticeship training will be provided, including theoretical learning and hands-on experience. Essential: Full driving licence and access to your own transport.
Duties
- Assembly and thorough pre-testing of instrumentation and ancillary equipment
- Soldering, machining, and handling specialist tools and equipment
- Maintaining traceability of parts and quality documentation
- Collaborating with colleagues to identify efficiency improvements
- Embracing and promoting employee ownership values
Requirements
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English AND Science/Technology
- Strong interest in engineering/mechanical skills
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity
- Proficient with Windows-based software (MS Word, Excel, Access)
- Desire to develop new skills
- Driving licence and access to personal transport

Desirable
- Background in electronics (e.g., fault-finding in PCBs, reading schematics)
- Experience with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
- Familiarity with workshop tools (or quick learner)
- Experience with surface mount soldering
- Understanding of employee-owned businesses
