Manufacturing Test Engineer
Summary
The Manufacturing Test Engineer will collaborate with the Test and Production teams to enhance and support the capability and capacity of HVDC manufacturing test facilities across various shifts. Key responsibilities include ensuring safe, efficient use of test cells through hands-on support, generating key documentation, and aiding departmental projects.
Responsibilities - What You’ll Do
Core Tasks
- Support manufacturing test infrastructure activities, including resolving technical issues and improving test capabilities in a shift-based environment to ensure continuous production support.
- Provide technical support for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting test equipment during daily operations and failures.
- Assist in developing and implementing new test infrastructure and tools.
- Work with suppliers and contractors to support facility build, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Follow and enforce processes for test facilities and equipment, including change management, scheduled calibration, and preventative maintenance.
Specialised Support
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by contributing to requirements, equipment procurement, and test sequence updates.
- Collaborate across functions to address New Product Development (NPD) issues, encourage continuous improvement, and resolve technical barriers.
- Define and develop manufacturing test strategies and specifications with engineering teams.
- Integrate test software systems with business systems, partnering with IT and operations teams.

Documentation & Improvement
- Create and maintain training materials, SOPs, safety documentation, and quality assurance guides for test documentation.
- Identify and implement process and infrastructure improvements to boost metrics like OEE, throughput, and FPY.
- Conduct troubleshootings, fault-finding investigations, and corrective actions on equipment/process failures.
- Provide technical guidance and operator support for team members and technicians.
Requirements - What You’ll Bring
Essential Skills & Experience
- A process-driven attitude and collaborative mindset; willing to learn.
- A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in engineering.
- High-voltage safety knowledge (tools include risk assessments, FMEA, SSow, LOTO).
- Troubleshooting experience (PCBs, machinery, test cells).
- Three or more years in manufacturing test facility maintenance.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-engineering stakeholders.
- Proven ability to follow and refine test specifications.

Desirable
- Familiarity with automated test equipment (including NI LabVIEW & TestStand).
- Knowledge of power electronics, product manufacturing, and testing methodologies.
- Aptitude for lean manufacturing environments.
Core Abilities
- Strong verbal and written English for communication.
- Proactive, self-motivated individual who manages priorities effectively.
- Proficient use of electrical test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, DMM, power analyser).
- Ability to deliver projects on time while handling multiple tasks.
- Willingness to travel.
