Senior Bunker Trader – Physical Marine Fuels (EMEA)

Location: London, United Kingdom

Contract Type: Permanent

Compensation: Negotiable (Competitive Base + Performance)


Imperium Commodity Search is exclusively retained to appoint a Senior Bunker Trader on behalf of a globally established physical marine fuels supplier and trading group.

With a long-standing presence across major international ports and integrated physical supply operations in key geographies, the firm is executing a structured global expansion strategy across 2025–2026. This hire forms part of a broader investment into its EMEA trading platform.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced Bunker / Marine Fuels Trader seeking to leverage physical infrastructure, balance sheet strength and global supply capability to build and scale a profitable book of business.

The Role – Senior Marine Fuels Trader

As a Senior Bunker Trader, you will:

  • Trade physical marine fuels and bunkers across the EMEA region
  • Build and manage a profitable portfolio across LSFO, MGO, Fuel Oil, Lubricants and related products
  • Promote and leverage the firm’s physical supply locations across Europe, Middle East and Africa
  • Source and supply marine fuels for shipowners, charterers and vessel operators
  • Manage the full trade lifecycle from enquiry through negotiation, contracting, delivery and post-trade documentation
  • Negotiate spot and term contracts across supply and customer channels
  • Collaborate with operations, credit and finance teams to ensure smooth execution and risk management
  • Identify new port opportunities and strengthen supplier relationships in strategic locations

Experience & Profile

We would welcome discussions with candidates who have:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a physical bunker supplier or back-to-back marine fuels trading house
  • Proven experience trading physical marine fuels (LSFO, MGO, Fuel Oil, Bunkers, Lubricants)
  • Established network across the EMEA bunker markets
  • Strong understanding of procurement, pricing, hedging tools and bunker documentation processes
  • Demonstrable track record building and managing a profitable bunker trading book
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to scale revenue within a structured trading environment
  • Based in the UK or willing to relocate to London
