Job title: Marine Cargo Inspector Job Type: Permanent Location: West Thurrock Salary: £35,300-£39,900, (depending on level of experience), including company vehicle Hours: Annualised hours contract- Average 48 hours per week (Work arrangements are around ship/ vessel timings, you will need to be flexible to work weekdays and weekends) Industry: Oil, Gas and Chemicals Due to the nature of this role and business requirements, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. At SGS, we’re looking for a motivated and hands-on Cargo Inspector to join our team. This role offers full training, development and long-term career progression within a world-leading inspection, testing and certification company.
What you’ll be doing:
As a Cargo Inspector, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of global cargo movements. Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out sampling and measurement of cargoes including Crude Oil, Petroleum Products, Petrochemicals and Gases Performing inspections such as visual checks, temperature and volume measurements, and drawing representative samples of cargos Accurately recording data and completing calculations to determine load, discharge and transfer quantities using SGS reporting tools Working closely with colleagues, clients, terminals and third parties to ensure smooth operations and communicate any delays or issues
Qualifications
