About the Role
At Babcock, we’re dedicated to creating a safe and secure world through engineering excellence for national security. If you joins us, you can play a critical part as a Marine Electrical Fitter at our HMNB Clyde Faslane site.
This role is anything but ordinary. You’ll work in a high-impact environment, supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet as part of a skilled team. Your expertise will directly contribute to national defence and maritime safety.
Here’s what your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
Key Responsibilities
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related tasks to meet operational goals.
- Performing electrical fitting, repairs, and inspections on marine systems and equipment.
- Identifying and resolving system defects to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Adhering to health and safety protocols and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborating across departments to support wider engineering operations.
Hours: Full time (36 hours per week), Monday to Thursday, 07:15 to 16:45, based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A background in marine or industrial engineering with experience in electrical maintenance.
- Comfortability working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied weather conditions.
- Strong skills in reading technical drawings and solving technical problems with precision.
- A commitment to high standards of quality and meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with:
- Maintenance procedures
- Risk assessments
- Safe systems of work

Qualifications Required
- Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent such as NVQ or City & Guilds).
- HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering discipline, with relevant industry experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance.
