Role Description
The Marine & Jetty Engineering Specialist is a full-time role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a hybrid working arrangement that allows some work from home. This role focuses on the engineering design, analysis, and review of marine and jetty structures supporting oil, gas, and energy projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Developing technical specifications
- Performing structural and marine calculations
- Supporting feasibility and concept studies
- Preparing design documentation and reports
The specialist will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, interface with clients and stakeholders, participate in risk and safety reviews, and contribute to project planning and execution. The role also involves supporting site surveys, inspections, and occasional travel to project locations as required.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in marine operations and maritime engineering, with proven experience in Marine Operations and Maritime work.
- Background in naval or defense-related marine environments, with familiarity in Navy and Boat operations.
- Experience delivering training in marine safety, operations, or engineering, with the ability to design and conduct effective Training programs.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Marine, or Offshore Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and assessment of jetties, piers, berthing facilities, and related coastal infrastructure.
- Proficiency with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., structural analysis software, CAD) and relevant international codes and standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and a hybrid office/remote environment.
- Experience in oil and gas or energy sector projects is highly advantageous; professional registration or chartered status is a plus.

ABOUT PEGASUS INTERNATIONAL
Pegasus International (UK) Ltd. is expanding its multidisciplinary LNG and infrastructure advisory team. We are seeking highly experienced professionals for immediate engagement on a major LNG Terminal Project covering feasibility, FEED, technical assurance, commercial and PPP advisory, environmental and social safeguards, procurement, project controls and transaction execution.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Provide specialist leadership for LNG marine facilities, jetty configuration, ship-shore interfaces, berthing, mooring, navigation safety and marine operability for large LNG carriers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop or review the marine design basis, design vessel envelope and jetty functional requirements.
- Lead berthing, mooring, navigation, manoeuvring, operability, downtime and marine-risk studies.
- Review trestles, loading platforms, dolphins, fenders, quick-release hooks, gangways, loading arms and ship-shore ESD systems.
- Integrate metocean, bathymetric, dredging, sedimentation and navigation-channel data into the marine concept.
- Assess compatibility with conventional LNG carriers and, where applicable, Q-Flex or Q-Max class vessels.
- Define marine operating limits, weather criteria, tug requirements, pilotage philosophy and emergency-response interfaces.
- Support FEED reviews, constructability, CAPEX estimation, procurement specifications and technical bid evaluation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Coastal Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional registration or recognized marine qualification is preferred.
- Master Mariner credentials may be accepted for navigation-focused candidates with strong LNG terminal experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 12 years of marine, port or jetty engineering experience, including at least 8 years involving LNG, LPG, oil or gas terminals.
- Demonstrated experience with LNG-carrier berthing and mooring analysis, ship simulation and marine operability assessment.
- Strong working knowledge of SIGTTO, OCIMF, PIANC, IAPH, IMO and recognized marine-terminal practices.
- Experience in monsoon, cyclone, high-current or sediment-sensitive environments is preferred.
- Experience preparing owner’s technical requirements and reviewing EPC/PPP developer proposals is desirable.

WORK LOCATION AND MOBILITY
- Candidates must be willing to work from and support Pegasus offices and project assignments in the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
- International and domestic travel will be required for project meetings, site visits, workshops, technical reviews and stakeholder consultations.
- Candidates must be able to obtain the necessary visas, security clearances, medical fitness and work authorization; Pegasus will provide reasonable support subject to eligibility and applicable law.
