Marine Associate – London

A highly regarded Legal 500 firm is seeking a talented Marine Associate to join its established and expanding Shipping & Marine team in London. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to work on a diverse portfolio of high-value, international marine matters while benefiting from a clear career progression pathway, flexible hybrid working, and an excellent remuneration package.
The Role
Working as part of a respected specialist team, you will advise a broad client base including shipowners, insurers, charterers, P&I Clubs, and logistics companies on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious shipping matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on charterparty disputes, cargo claims, marine insurance matters, vessel arrests, and other maritime disputes.
- Managing shipping litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating shipping contracts and commercial agreements.
- Providing advice on regulatory, compliance, and risk management issues affecting the maritime sector.
- Managing matters from instruction through to resolution while delivering exceptional client service.
- Working closely with international clients, overseas counsel, and multi-jurisdictional teams on cross-border matters.
- Supporting business development initiatives and helping to build long-standing client relationships.

About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor with experience in marine, shipping, or commercial litigation and possess:
- Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- A commercial approach with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international environment.
- Outstanding communication and client relationship management skills.
- The ambition and drive to build a long-term career with a leading London law firm.
