About the Role

We’re seeking keen and motivated Maritime Operations Administrator Apprentices to join our Offshore Operations team, playing a critical role in planning and coordinating vessel deployments for military training exercises across the UK and overseas.
As part of this earn-while-you-learn programme, you’ll develop on-the-job experience while working towards your Level 3 Business Administrator qualification. This role is ideal if you’re organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about logistics, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement in a professional setting.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in: ✔ Operational planning and vessel scheduling ✔ Coordination of crew movements, logistics, and travel arrangements ✔ Maintenance of operational systems and compliance documentation ✔ Stakeholder engagement and communication across teams ✔ Problem-solving in fast-paced, dynamic environments
Upon completion of your apprenticeship (24 months), you’ll achieve a Level 3 Business Administrator Certificate while earning a salary from day one.

Responsibilities
You’ll be entrusted with key duties to support onshore shoreside operations for offshore maritime activities:
Core Responsibilities & Tasks
- Plan and coordinate vessel deployments, ensuring schedules align with operational and training demands
- Prepare and update vessel programmes, tasking plans, and operational schedules
- Liaise with vessel crews, engineering teams, and internal/external stakeholders to ensure accurate and real-time operational data
- Manage crew movements, travel logistics, and resource allocation
- Maintain operational records, systems, and documentation for accuracy and defence compliance
- Monitor vessel availability, maintenance schedules, and operational readiness
- Adapt to short-notice reprioritisation and emergency operational demands
- Compile reports, briefings, and administrative documentation for leadership
- Uphold company procedures, safety standards, and defence protocols
- Build collaborative relationships with internal DOS teams and external partners
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll receive mentorship to progress toward your End Point Assessment (EPA) through IAMI (The Independent Assessment and Certification) Framework. Proactive problem-solving and attention to detail are essential in this dynamic, high-support role.
Requirements & Eligibility
This apprenticeship is open to self-starters who meet the following criteria:
Essential
✅ Minimum 18 years of age ✅ British national, holding a valid UK passport and the ability to achieve a Security Clearance ✔ 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including:
- Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- English (Grade C/4 or above) ✅ Ability to obtain an ENG1 unrestricted medical certificate ✅ Must be flexible to transition between college and operational phases, including periods away from home ✅ Commitment to team working in a disciplined, safety-focused environment ✅ Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, grow, and adapt
