Senior Meat Cutter / Meat Specialist

About the Role
Ensures market and seafood cases remain full, well-rotated, and fresh, with prepackaged meats ready for sale. This role involves basic meat preparation (trimming, weighing, packaging, and labeling) while maintaining exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities

** Meat Prep & Processing**
- Assists with cutting, weighing, packaging, and labeling of meat and seafood products.
- Uses non-precision and precision tools to trim unfinished meat into desired sizes, shapes, and weights.
- Adheres to quality control and food safety standards, including stocking and rotating products per guidelines.
- Ensures coolers and freezers are organized while compliant with all governmental product-origin labeling laws.

Equipment & Workplace Maintenance
- Cleans, assembles, and prepares equipment for use, ensuring proper functionality.
- Checks for hazards and reports maintenance needs; places warning signs as required.

Customer Service & Sales Promotion
- Promotes product sales through suggestive selling techniques.
- Greet customers, answer inquiries, and assist with orders—both in person and by phone.

Warehouse & Operations Support
- Stacks pallets and organizes product into correct storage locations for maximum efficiency.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by following company safety and cleanliness procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications

Age & Compliance
- Minimum 18 years (for general responsibilities).
- 21 years+' for operating motorized equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, grinders).
- If required to drive for company business, must be 21+ years of age.

Technical & Physical Proficiency
- Ability to operate:
- Digital scales, calibrated equipment, and precision tools.
- Manual or electric pallet jacks.
- Safe use of sharp tools (e.g., knives, meat grinders, box cutters).
- Must work with hazardous equipment (e.g., bailers) in compliance with safety standards.

Soft Skills & Adaptability
- Excellent teamwork, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Attention to safety hazards; promptly reporting unresolved risks to supervisors.

- On-the-job training provided (for those without prior experience).
- Mandatory Food Handler Certification required.

This role requires regular physical activity in a retail store environment:
- Continuous standing/walking, hand use, and near/visual focus (reaching and handling items).
- Frequent lifting (maneuvering/pushing up to 40 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs).
- Bending, kneeling, and squatting.
- Temperature & Surface Exposure:
- Frequent cold, wet/damp, or slippery conditions.
- Occasional contact with cleaning agents and sharp-edged equipment.
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
