About the Role:

Each brand team group (VW, Audi, SEAT, etc.) will have between one and three dedicated Market Engagement specialists.

The VW brand team will have Market Engagement Associate Directors and a Business Director role to work across specific regions (Europe, APAC and Americas).

This is a critical role in connecting global with local.

The role of market engagement is to work with strategy teams to connect our work with local PHD markets across the EMEA, Americas and APAC. We have developed and continue to evolve a unique approach to landing our work in local markets to ensure our strategies will be clearly understood and adopted. It will be a fast-paced team with a very active calendar. We will be held accountable by the client for our effectiveness in connecting global with local and will have a tracking system in place to support this.

You will work closely with Global Strategy and Digitals team and will ultimately report into the Business Director. You will also work closely with other specialist resources across the team including Tech and Data Strategy.

The market engagement position will have a pivotal role in driving forward both the successful development and landing of VW Group’s global communications strategies. It will be an exciting and challenging position working with some of the industry’s leading comms strategists within one of the world’s largest and most dynamic international planning teams.

  • In depth knowledge of markets media landscape, planning and buying
  • Responsible for steering the market planning, looking for inefficiencies and areas for improvement
  • Broad knowledge of allocated markets, including local PHD teams, client relationships, campaigns, use of One.Reporting dashboard, PlanIt and Omni
  • Partner to central strategy, digital teams and local media teams to ensure locally briefed campaigns adhere to the Globally agreed strategy “Connecting.Experiences”
  • Understand of the key campaigns running in allocated markets, including objectives, channel mix, flighting, and investment levels
  • Capture examples of best practice from allocated markets, and sharing across the network trying to land consistency and repeatable models across all the PHD markets working on the Volkswagen Brand business
  • Go-to person for the local market PHD teams, for any help or support they may need from the center of a wide range of issues from local client relations to local adoption of Connecting.Experiences
  • Point of liaison with the local markets when an issue has been raised by the local client via central VW Brand, which needs central team help and support to resolve
  • Regularly check One.Reporting dashboard data and trends for allocated local markets, to help identify anomalies and be abreast of market investment profile
  • Co-create centrally led Post Campaign Analysis for centrally developed car launches
  • Responsible for the curation and timely delivery of Top 11 monthly markets report
  • Responsible for the collection, curation and sharing of local best practices with central HQ clients as well as other markets

About You:

  • Experience in an international media account management role or in a market – the ideal candidate would have demonstrable hands-on market experience gained at some stage in their career.
  • Strong on account management and well organized. Able to proactively manage systems and procedures in your allocated business. Experience in leading project management.
  • A good working understanding of all marketing communication channels.
  • A strong and articulate communicator who can deal confidently with clients (both global and local VW Brand clients) and local media agency counterparts. You must have excellent spoken and written English.
  • A collaborative team player who can work with the PHD teams across other brands to help further develop our market engagement approach and delivery.
  • Attention to details and ability to work with data is critical
  • Major automotive experience would be an advantage.
  • Excellent computer skills – in particular Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
