Market Manager, High Voltage UK

**The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy has an exciting role as Market Manager High Voltage.

In this role, you will lead the local business unit in the United Kingdom, guiding commercial development and market positioning as the key interface between the market, customers, and internal organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial strategy and lead the UK team for High Voltage (HV) products
  • Maintain accountability for overall business performance, including:
    • Order intake
    • Profitability
    • Market share
  • Hold full ownership of the P&L (Profit & Loss)
  • Report to the Demand Marketing & Sales Manager, Northern Europe (High Voltage Products)

Leadership & Team:

  • Lead a cross-functional team (sales, tenders, and support) of 15–25 professionals (direct/indirect) across the UK.

Market Focus:

  • Define and implement the UK market strategy, aligned with Hub Europe objectives
  • Drive growth initiatives and business plans across the HV portfolio
  • Identify and develop key market segments, including:
    • Transmission System Operators (TSOs)
    • Distribution Network Operators (DNOs)
    • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPCs)
    • Data centres
    • Renewables
  • Promote the full HV portfolio, including:
    • Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
    • Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS)
    • Low-Tension Switchgear (LTB)
    • Hybrid and Power Quality Solutions
    • EconiQ solutions

Customer & Contractual Relationships:

  • Own and manage key customer relationships
  • Lead complex sales processes, including:
    • Pricing negotiations
    • Contractual agreements

Operational Accountability:

  • Coordinate with sales, tendering, project management, and factories for alignment
  • Monitor and manage UK HV P&L performance, including:
    • Order intake
    • Revenue
    • Margins
    • Cash flow
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking
  • Smart collaborate, coach, and mentor sales managers and junior professionals

Key Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical field required
  • Alternatively, candidates with business management backgrounds will be considered if supported by strong technical experience

Experience & Competencies

  • 10+ years of experience in:
    • HV business
    • Sales
    • Market management
  • Proven track record in:
    • Leading teams and business units within cross-functional organisations
    • Key experience in High Voltage substations, EPC projects, or related technologies
    • Strong understanding of the UK energy market (National Grid, DNOs, EPCs)
  • Demonstrated ability to commercialise complex technical solutions

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communicator, with fluency in English
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally as required
