Market Manager High Voltage – United Kingdom (Hitachi Energy)
About the Opportunity
Hitachi Energy offers an exciting role as Market Manager High Voltage (HV). In this position, you will lead the UK business unit from commercial development to market positioning, acting as the primary interface between the market, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and implementing commercial strategy aligned with Hub Europe objectives.
- Leading a cross-functional team (typically 15–25 direct and indirect reports) in sales, tendering, and project support.
- Achieving overall business performance in the UK, including order intake, profitability, and market share, with full P&L ownership.
Note: Visa sponsorship (including graduate visas) is not available.
Key Responsibilities
Market & Commercial Strategy
- Define and implement the UK market strategy aligned with European hub objectives.
- Drive growth initiatives and business plans across the high-voltage (HV) portfolio.
- Identify and develop key market segments, including:
- Transmission system operators (TSOs)
- Distribution network operators (DNOs)
- Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms
- Data centres
- Renewable energy projects

Sales & Customer Engagement
- Promote the full HV portfolio (GIS, AIS, LTB, hybrid systems, power quality solutions, EconiQ).
- Own and develop critical business relationships with key customers.
- Lead complex sales processes, including pricing, contractual negotiations, and tender submissions.
Operational Leadership
- Coordinate cross-functional teams in sales, tendering, project management, and production to ensure alignment.
- Manage financial accountability for the UK HV business P&L, including:
- Order intake
- Revenue generation
- Margin and cash flow performance
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.
Team Management & Development
- Coach and mentor sales managers and junior professionals.
- Foster growth and accountability within the team.

Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree in Engineering or related technical field (Business management backgrounds with strong technical experience will be considered).
- 10+ years’ experience in HV business, sales, or market leadership, preferably in:
- Leading cross-functional teams within energy or industrial organisations.
- High-voltage substations, EPC projects, or related technologies.
Industry & Market Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the UK energy market, including:
- National Grid operations
- Distributed network operators (DNOs)
- Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) processes
Professional Skills
- Excellent communication skills with fluent English (verbal and written).
- Strong business acumen with financial forecasting, negotiation, and strategic planning experience.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally.
