Circa: Salary – £40,000.00 Annual
We are looking for a Market Research Executive to join our Data Science & Insights team on a 6-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover).

This is an exciting opportunity for a curious and commercially minded researcher who loves uncovering the story behind the data.

You’ll take ownership of the full research lifecycle, from:
- Designing quantitative surveys and writing survey scripts
- Analysis of results
- Presenting compelling findings to stakeholders
No two days are the same! Expect a mix of:
- Running customer research
- Investigating competitor activity
- Exploring market opportunities
- Using data to shape strategic decisions
We’re looking for someone who blends creativity and analytical thinking while questioning assumptions.
Key Responsibilities: (Technical & Presentational Profile)
- Technical expertise required:
- Advanced Excel
- Q platform
- SmartSurvey
- AI-powered research tools
- You’ll turn complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Storytelling capabilities needed to bring insights to life via engaging presentations and reports
Operational Environment:

Day-to-Day Activities
Core Responsibilities:

Work with designated stakeholders to:
- Gather insight/reference requests
- Help prioritise work
- Maximise resource focus on high-value activities

Monitor and interpret market trends using:
- Internal & external data sources
- Market size/growth rates

Follow market research best practice

Maintain robust data protection compliance awareness

Analyse data to enable evidence-based decisions:
- Apply statistical methods
- Exercise sound judgement

Deepen understanding of:
- Customer data
- Markets
- RSC’s products & services across the organisation

Support strategic projects:
- Apply insider market research expertise
- Proactively resolve problems to generate practical outcomes

About the Team
The Data Science & Insights Team partnerships:
- Trusted strategic advisor for business decisions
- Delivers high-quality research and market intelligence
- Provides evidence-based insights driving organisational change
Location & Flexibility
- Contract location: Cambridge office (primary hub)
- Hybrid Work Potential: Opportunity to work mostly remotely (via UK location), agreed with line manager
- Expectation: One in-office visit per month (may be ad hoc)
Requirements
Experience & Skills:
- In-depth experience with customer & market research (qualitative and quantitative):
- Surveys/successful delivery via focus groups & interviews
- Previous role in market research (preferences: client-side or agency experience)
- Knowledge of leveraging competitor intelligence to identify:
- Trends
- Market opportunities
- Implications of competitive activity
- Practical ability to manage multiple projects while:
- Prioritising workload effectually
- Meeting deadlines
Technical Competency:
- Proficiency in numeracy and data literacy
- Advanced Excel essential + other MS Office suite knowledge
- Ability to summarise trends from data/customer/scientific sources
- Formulate & present concisely written reports + slide decks
- Statistical techniques used in market research knowledge core
- Experience leveraging online survey tools like:
- SmartSurvey or related platforms
- Preferred experience with Q Analysis Package (understanding of research tools core)
Key Compliances:
- Must align with data protection best practices
- Adherence to All relevant research & legal regulations
