Market Risk Vice President
Market Risk Vice President – Chief Investment Office, Treasury and Corporate Risks
Risk Management and Compliance, J.P. Morgan Chase
About the Role
As part of Risk Management and Compliance, you play a pivotal role in ensuring JPMorgan Chase remains strong, resilient, and grows responsibly. Your expertise will shape risk decisions, anticipate emerging challenges, and collaborate across the firm—guarding our business, customers, and communities while maintaining best-in-class standards in a dynamic environment.
Engaged in Chief Investment Office, Treasury and Corporate (CTC) Risk, your team oversees portfolio risk tied to:
- Chief Investment Office (CIO) assets
- Global Treasury operations
- "Other" Corporate businesses, including:
- Firm-wide Pension Plans
- Insurance programs
- Mortgage Servicing Rights
You will support Portfolio Managers in:
- Facilitating efficient risk/return trade-offs
- Reducing operational volatility
- Ensuring full transparency of market risk to senior management, Board of Directors, and regulators
Key Responsibilities
1. Market & Portfolio Risk Management
- Develop deep expertise in fixed income markets and CTC portfolios—creating custom analytics for:
- Investment portfolio analysis
- Pre-trade investment reviews
- Proposals for limit refinements
- Identify and communicate key risk shifts, presenting critical insights to CTC Risk colleagues and senior risk teams.
- Track high-risk exposures and potential concentrations to strengthen portfolio governance.

2. Research & Margin Enhancement
- Turncurrent trends into sophisticated reports by synthesizing topics relevant to fixed income portfolios, such as:
- Macro risk factors (interest rates, foreign exchange)
- Measured financial impact assessments
- Collaborate with Quantitative Research (QR) and Model Review Group (MRG) teams to refine risk analyses and reporting.
3. Model Oversight & Process Improvement
- Serve as a critical reviewer of financial models, addressing methodologies, anomalies, and effectiveness.
- Conduct impact analyses for proposed model changes and align implementation timelines.
- Drive technological enhancements and process efficiencies within the risk suite.
4. Cross-Team Standardisation
- Act as a spokesperson for CTC Market Risk on projects and initiatives.
- Establish industry-leading risk transparency through rigorous collaboration with risk partners.
5. Ad-Hoc Demands & Crisis Readiness
- Act as a trusted advisor for urgent requests from senior risk management tiers.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
Core Competencies
- 5+ years of experience in risk management or fixed income/securitized products.
- Specialized knowledge of:
- Fixed income markets—focus on Rates, Foreign Exchange, and credit-related counterparty risk
- Stress testing, Value-at-Risk (VaR), and risk governance frameworks across portfolios
- Ability to:
- Critically assess portfolio decisions to align risk allocation with global objectives
- Navigate tools like Excel VBA, Bloomberg, and treasury/risk enterprise systems

- Excel at quantitative analysis, VBA automation, custom script development, and data visualization.
- Collaborate with quantitative teams (QR, MRG) to optimize reporting and methodology.
