Market Street Fishmonger (Morrisons)

Are you a skilled fishmonger, whether behind a fish counter or in a professional kitchen? Do you have a passion for preparing, filleting, flavouring, and presenting all kinds of fish to an impressive standard?

If so, our role as a Market Street Fishmonger at Morrisons is the ‘plaice’ for you!


The Role

As the face of our fresh fish counter, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring customer confidence in the availability of our fresh fish products.
  • Maintaining high-quality displays—keeping displays fresh, attractive, and well-presented throughout the trading day to drive sales.
  • Providing expert guidance on fish preparation, cooking methods, and best practices.
  • Preparing fish products to company and customer specifications, including:
    • Cutting, pricing, and weighing fish
    • Filleting, scaling,Skinning, pin boning, and gutting
    • Using appropriate equipment (knives, chainmail gloves, and other tools).
  • Satisfying customer demands, including orders from our online shoppers.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service—friendly, helpful, and proactive, ensuring a great shopping experience.
  • Highlighting traditional fishmongery skills and promoting our fresh, high-quality products.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Can operate equipment safely while maintaining high Health & Safety standards.
  • Have fishmongery skills or relevant experience.
  • Enjoy flexibility, including working across other fresh counters to meet customer needs.
