Marketing and Communications Officer

Role Overview

As Marketing and Communications Officer, you will join a team of professionals ensuring Lancaster University’s brand, messages, and sustainability initiatives resonate with its community and stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Brand Marketing Manager, your key focus will be developing sustainability messaging and campaigns, refining the university’s brand narrative in this area, and showcasing its commitment to sustainability across all activities.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term role until 31 December 2026, available only to current employees of Lancaster University. You will collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to:

  • Coordinate activity and ensure compelling sustainability stories are shared.
  • Drive behavioural change aligned with Lancaster’s global vision as leaders in net zero and climate solutions.
  • Create and curate engaging content for digital and print channels, including commissioning external contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sustainability campaigns and brand narratives that align with strategic goals.
  • Propose, create, and maintain engaging content for multiple formats (text, print, digital).
  • Write clear, persuasive copy, including bids, submissions, and statistical reports for sustainability league tables and awards.
  • Use data visualisation tools to present findings effectively in written and organisational formats.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential: ★ Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, and campaign development. ★ Strong written and digital communication skills with evidence of successful campaign delivery. ★ Ability to write compelling submissions and present complex statistical data. ★ Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). ★ Experience of collaborative content production across diverse teams.
