Our Company
The Data Business is a fast-growing B2B data services agency. We build, cleanse, and enrich high-quality B2B databases for clients across every B2B sector, with particular specialism in events. Combining expert researchers with proprietary AI tools like TDB-AI, we help clients turn poor data into business growth, cleansing and enriching over 50 million contacts a year and building an average of 85,000 new contact records a month.
We offer a high-touch, high-service client experience, consultancy, strategy, and execution, not just a data feed. That exclusivity of service is core to who we are, and it's core to how we need to market ourselves: precisely, credibly, and to the right people.
The Role
We're looking for a Marketing and Sales Executive to own and develop our marketing function, with a core focus on driving new business acquisition through executing our marketing strategy.
You'll take our existing lead generation tools and strategy and turn them into a consistent, running engine, planning, producing, and maturing campaigns rather than one-off activity. Alongside this, you'll take ownership of the wider marketing department: social media, website, CRM and marketing data, and PR/networking opportunities.
This is a role for someone who has run marketing campaigns end-to-end and is equally comfortable managing the supporting infrastructure, CRM, website, content, everything that goes into making those campaigns work.
Given the "Sales" in the title, you'll also have visibility into account management, helping ensure marketing-generated leads convert and existing client relationships are supported by the right messaging and materials.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Responsibilities
Campaign Management (core focus)
- Own and develop our ongoing SME-focused marketing campaign strategy end-to-end: planning, execution, measurement, and iteration
- Take our established lead generation tools and strategy and turn them into a consistently running, well-resourced campaign programme
- Set campaign KPIs (leads generated, cost per lead, conversion rate, pipeline contribution) and report on performance regularly
- Test and refine messaging and channels based on results, rather than repeating the same activity by default
Social Media
- Own social media strategy, promotions, and advertising decisions across our core channels (LinkedIn in particular, given our B2B/events audience)
- Plan and maintain a consistent posting calendar aligned with campaign activity and company news
Website
- Own website content and presentation development, keeping messaging aligned with campaign priorities and current proof points (case studies, stats, testimonials)
- Coordinate with developers/designers as needed for structural or design changes
CRM & Marketing Data Management
- Manage the CRM (HubSpot experience required) — campaign tracking, list segmentation, automation/workflows, and reporting
- Maintain clean, well-structured marketing and prospect data — practising the same data discipline we sell to clients

PR & Networking
- Identify and pursue specialist PR opportunities and outward messaging relevant to our core sectors, particularly events
- Occasionally represent The Data Business at relevant networking events and industry gatherings to build visibility and relationships
Account Management
- Support account management activity where marketing and client relationships intersect — ensuring existing clients receive relevant content, updates, and campaign involvement (case studies, testimonials, renewals)
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing B2B marketing campaigns end-to-end, from strategy through execution and reporting
- Broader marketing department experience: social media management, website content, and CRM/marketing data
- Hands-on HubSpot experience preferred
- Comfortable owning both strategic planning and day-to-day execution in a lean team — this isn't a purely strategic role
- Strong written communication skills, able to translate technical data capability into commercial, outcome-led messaging
- Experience in or comfort with the events, publishing, or B2B sector marketing is a strong plus
- A proactive, networking-minded approach to PR and relationship-building
- 1-2 years of experience in a B2B marketing role
What We Offer
- Ownership of a marketing function with real influence over strategy, not just execution
- Established lead generation tools and existing strategy to build on, rather than starting from zero
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
