About the Role

This varied and exciting role is ideal for an individual aspiring to progress their career in marketing. Working in our Kidlington office, we are seeking a motivated person, looking to join a small team with big plans, with some experience in digital marketing and social media, and importantly having a willingness to learn new skills to help to grow the business.

The Marketing Assistant will help to deliver Experience Oxfordshire’s digital and social media presence and other associated digital platforms. The person must be customer-focused with excellent written and oral communication skills, creative, and well-organised with strong attention to detail.

The role will work across the visitor economy, partnership and stakeholder network promoting the tourism and cultural offer of the county and the product of our partners using our range of digital platforms.

The post holder will provide marketing support across all service areas of the business which include, but are not exclusive to, partnership, events, walking tours, travel trade and venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management team in delivering a clear marketing strategy.
  • Deliver a programme of social media for Experience Oxfordshire partners and Experience Oxfordshire with strong engagement and increased followers across both B2B and B2C channel.
  • Ensure the timely updating of partner and content pages on the Experience Oxfordshire Visitor, Partnership and Venues websites as directed.
  • Maximise exposure including content creation such as, guides, infographics and blogs.
  • Assist in delivering a content plan for the visitor and conference audiences.
  • Assist in delivering the email marketing programme using Mailchimp to deliver the message to our visitors, partners and conference audiences alike.
  • Respond to media enquiries appropriately as required.
  • Assist in the delivery of digital marketing campaigns in line with brand and design guidelines and overall company policy.
  • Monitor our Google PPC campaigns including ongoing optimisation and reporting as directed.
  • Work with the wider team to promote and manage the company’s programme of events.
  • Support the growth of marketing and partnership income levels and relevant income generating opportunities.
  • To provide regular reports and analytics on digital performance as required.
  • Ensure all data is managed sensitively and in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Perform all duties in line with Equal Opportunities policies in operation.
  • Undertake any such duties commensurate with the post as may be required.

Further Details

  • Responsible to: Marketing and Partnership Manager
  • Direct reports: None
  • Location: Office Based Role at Langford Locks, Kidlington, Oxfordshire OX5 1HZ
  • Salary: up to £25,500 DOE
  • Hours: Full Time – 38.5 hours per week.

  • Office Hours: Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5pm and Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm (inclusive of 30 minute unpaid lunch break).

Factors Essential Or Desirable

Education/Qualifications

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent by experience.
  • Professional marketing qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in a marketing role.
  • Experience of social media marketing that delivers tangible benefits: increased website traffic and customer engagement.
  • Experience of planning and project managing website development including a good insight into user experience, search optimisation, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience of using website content management systems.
  • Experience in email marketing including using Mailchimp or an equivalent email platform; maintaining a healthy database; campaign analysis and refinement.
  • Experience in PPC campaign management.
  • Experience of tourism and cultural marketing.
  • A working knowledge of HTML.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstratable website and social media experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, numerate.
  • Practical working knowledge of online marketing, marketing databases and customer relationship packages.
  • An excellent knowledge of Oxford and Oxfordshire.
