Marketing & Communications Manager

Up to £55,000 pro rata
9-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Cambridge Area | Hybrid

A growing organisation within the life sciences, biotech and healthcare sector is seeking an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager for a 9 month maternity contract. This is a predominantly content and communications focused role and would suit an exceptional writer who thrives on creating compelling copy across a variety of marketing channels within a highly regulated environment.

You'll be responsible for leading the development of engaging and compliant communications, driving content strategy, and managing a small team. The successful candidate will bring strong experience writing for regulated industries and be confident translating complex scientific or healthcare information into clear, audience-appropriate messaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, editing and delivery of high-quality content across digital, print, corporate communications, PR, social media, email marketing and campaign materials.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing and communications plans that support commercial objectives and enhance audience engagement.
  • Manage, coach and develop two direct reports, providing day-to-day leadership and support.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to create compelling, compliant messaging for a variety of audiences, including supporting product launches and awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure all communications and promotional materials meet regulatory, legal and compliance requirements expected within a highly regulated industry.

Your skills & experience:

  • Significant experience in marketing communications, corporate communications, content marketing, copywriting or PR roles.
  • Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to create engaging content across multiple channels and audiences.
  • Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare or other highly regulated sectors.
  • An understanding of the approvals, governance and compliance processes associated with regulated communications.
  • Previous line management experience and a proven ability to develop and motivate team members.

This role would be particularly well suited to candidates from pharmaceutical, biotech or life sciences backgrounds who have substantial experience writing and developing marketing content within a regulated environment. Previous people management experience is essential, and candidates available immediately or at short notice will be highly advantageous.
