Marketing, Events and Engagement Manager

Head of Events and Engagement (13-Month Fixed Term Maternity Cover)

About The Role

A 13-month fixed-term maternity cover opportunity, reporting to the Head of Events and Engagement, to lead a small team across UK corporate events, healthcare stakeholder engagement, marketing, communications, and strategic partnerships in Scotland.

Your role will deliver a varied and dynamic leadership opportunity, where you oversee corporate conferences, sponsorships, healthcare engagement, marketing campaigns, and strategic partnerships while strengthening Motability Operations’ reputation and deepening connections with customers, partners, and stakeholders across the UK.

Working closely with Executive Committee members, senior leaders, Marketing, Communications, and Customer Experience teams, as well as Motability Foundation, agencies, and external partners, you will drive integrated engagement initiatives that support Motability Operations' wider ambitions.

This is a chance to lead an established portfolio, build relationships, and make immediate impact—from strategy to execution.


Responsibilities

Scottish Sponsorships, Events, and Marketing & Communications

  • Identify opportunities to enhance Motability Scheme awareness through events, partnerships, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement across Scotland.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships and ambassador programmes, collaborating with agencies and external stakeholders to deliver engaging campaigns, events, and content that communicate Motability’s purpose.

Corporate Events

  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of Motability Operations’ UK corporate events, ensuring alignment with business objectives, branding, and reputation-building.
  • Oversee and mentor the Senior Events Executive (Corporate & Internal Events), ensuring successful delivery of:
    • Industry conferences & exhibitions
    • Corporate sponsorships
    • Employee events
    • Relevant customer engagement activities
  • Identify high-impact sponsorship opportunities to maximise business influence.
  • Support crisis communications in collaboration with Corporate Affairs & Communications to uphold brand integrity.

Healthcare Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Scheme Stakeholder Engagement Executive, ensuring healthcare engagement supports Motability Scheme awareness and organisational goals.
  • Strategically manage relations with healthcare organisations and professional bodies, fostering trusted, long-term partnerships.
  • Identify gaps to enhance engagement, ensuring insights feed into business strategy and customer outcomes.

Team Leadership

  • Line-manage two key executives (Senior Events Executive & Scheme Stakeholder Engagement Executive), offering coaching, clear direction, and accountability.
  • Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and cultivate a collaborative team culture.
  • Build relationships with:
    • Executive Committee, senior leaders
    • Marketing, Communications, & Customer Experience teams
    • Motability Foundation, agencies, and strategic partners
  • Continuously review engagement performance, using insight, evaluation, and feedback to refine outcomes.
  • Apply Motability’s core values to drive meaningful stakeholder, partner, and team connections.

What You’ll Bring

** Skills & Experience**

✔ Proven experience in marketing, communications, corporate events, or stakeholder engagement in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment. ✔ Demonstrated ability to lead people, influence senior stakeholders, and embed technical expertise (e.g., sourcing venues, managing vendors, crisis comms). ✔ Strong track record in:

  • Event planning & logistics
  • Sponsorship & ambassador program management (ideally in areas like disability, sport, or community focused organisations)
  • Integrated marketing and communications campaigns

Soft Skills

✔ Confident communicator, adept at workshops, presentations, and cross-functional collaboration. ✔ Strong multi-tasker with high standards, balancing priority-driven work while ensuring measurable results. ✔ Creativity, energy, and sound judgement, with a passion for inclusive engagement.


Essential Criteria

✅ Line management experience, with ability to mentor, coach, and hold others accountable. ✅ Substantial experience (5+ years) in marketing, communications, corporate events, or stakeholder engagement in a complex organisational context. ✅ Proven success in planning/delivering events, sponsorships, and marketing—preferably within a purpose-led environment. ✅ Sponsorship, partnership, or ambassador program management experience. ✅ Strong relationship-building skills with executives, stakeholders, agencies, and suppliers. ✅ Excellent project and budget management, adept at high-stake execution.

✅ Social/communications experience specific to Scotland, including local political, media, and business landscapes. ✅ Degree (undergraduate +) in Marketing, Communications, Events Management or equivalent qualified professional experience.

Key Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across UK (Edinburgh, Bristol, London offices). Weekend/evening shifts on occasion for events.
  • Fixed term maternity cover contract: Mid-Sept 2026 – Mid-Oct 2026.
