About us
The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) is the trade body representing companies that organise trade and consumer events in the UK and internationally. We support our members through events, networking, research, training and industry advocacy, helping them grow successful businesses while promoting the value of the events industry.
AEO is part of the Events Industry Alliance (EIA), which also includes the Association of Event Venues (AEV) and the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA). Find out more at aeo.org.uk.
About the role
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their marketing career within the events industry. Working as part of a small, friendly team, you'll deliver marketing campaigns that promote AEO events, engage members, support partners and sponsors, and grow our audience.
You'll gain hands-on experience across digital marketing, content creation, websites, email marketing, social media, CRM and event marketing, with plenty of opportunity to develop your skills. No two days are the same - one day you could be writing an email campaign, the next updating the website, editing video content for social media or helping promote one of our flagship events.
We're looking for candidates with at least one year's experience in a marketing role.
Key responsibilities
Working as part of the marketing team, and alongside the Head of Marketing and Marketing Manager, you'll:
- Deliver marketing campaigns for AEO events, initiatives and member services.
- Create engaging content for emails, websites, blogs, social media and other marketing channels.
- Keep the AEO and event websites up to date, ensuring content is accurate, engaging and easy to use.
- Build, send and test email campaigns, then review performance to improve future activity.
- Help manage AEO's social media channels and create content that encourages engagement.
- Create marketing materials including brochures, presentations, graphics, videos and other digital assets.
- Edit video content for social media and digital channels, and capture simple social content at events where required.
- Support lead generation and event registrations through marketing activity.
- Maintain accurate member and customer data within the CRM.
- Work closely with colleagues across membership, events and partnerships to promote AEO activity.
- Support the promotion of AEO research, focus groups, training, member benefits and other industry resources.
- Review campaign performance using website, email and social media data, using insights to improve future campaigns.
- Use AI and other digital tools to support research, content creation and day-to-day marketing activity while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Work with external suppliers and creative partners where required.
- Represent AEO at events, meetings and other industry activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
